The third edition of Oceanman, an open water swimming international circuit, will feature its first edition in Oitylo Bay on the Greek Peloponnese peninsula for the very first time.
The event will be held on July 2nd and responds to the desire of the organization to take the competition to different places in the world so that all participants can combine the practice of sport with tourism in idyllic scenarios.
The third edition of Oceanman, the open water swimming international circuit will also feature two events in the province of Alicante, Tabarca and Benidorm, as well as including for the first time a seat in the Russian city of Sochi.
The circuit, open to professionals and amateurs, has not yet fully defined its schedule, which maintains traditional testing in Italy (Lago d’Orta), Mexico (Cozumel Island) in addition to debuting in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).
The Asian venue will be the first event of the circuit, next March 19th, which will followed by the Island of Tabarca, May 7th, Sochi, on the 28th of the same month, Lago d’Orta, on June 24th and Benidorm, stage of the end of the first two editions, and Cozumel in dates yet to be determined.
Fermin Egido, director of the event, told Efe that the choice of the Greek city is further proof of the growth of this competition, “an ideal excuse for sports and tourism mixed with nature.”
“We want that through the Oceanman competition people will be encouraged to travel and build a continuous flow of people between the different venues of the circuit,” he added.
The Oceanman circuit will also feature at the Greek headquarters with three events, one 10 km, 5 km and another 1.5 km for youngsters or those wishing to start swimming in open water. The top 10 finishers in each category will be able to reach the final, in a scenario yet to be decided, in which the World title will be played.
