The third edition of Oceanman, an international circuit of open water swimming, will have two tests in the province of Alicante, Tabarca and Benidorm, in addition is including for the first time a seat in the Russian city of Sochi.
The circuit, suitable to professionals and amateurs, has not yet fully defined its schedule, which maintains traditional testing in Italy (Lago d’Orta), Mexico (Cozumel Island) and it is debuting in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur).
The Asian venue will be the first of the circuit, next March 19th, which will be followed by the venues in Tabarca Island, May 7th Sochi, on the 28th of the same month, Lago d’Orta, on June 24th, and also Benidorm, scenario of the end of the first two previous editions, and Cozumel in dates yet to be determined.
Fermin Egido, director of the test, told Efe that this third edition could still have a couple of venues more, possibly in Greece and in the Caribbean, and he seemed excited to have been able to add to the circuit an event in the Russian city where were hosted the Winter Olympic Games of 2014.
“In Sochi we will meet the huge demand from the Russian swimmers, who are a great majority in some of the tests we have done in Spain, and we also make known to everyone a spectacular and modern venue,” said Egido.
“The aim is keep growing every year a little more and be able to bring the experience of the Oceanman circuit to all seas and continents,” added the competition director, who said the tests are an “excellent excuse” to practice the sport of Swimming in unique and attractive places while practicing sport.
The Oceanman circuit will consist of three events: 10km, 5km and 1,5km for young people or for those who wish to start swimming in open water. The top 10 in each category will be able to pass to the final, in a scenario yet to be decided, in which the World title will be put into play.
