- The third in the circuit brought together 300 amateur and professional swimmers in a competition watched by thousands of spectators.
- Mexicans Fernando Betanzos & Anahí León won the Full Oceanman distance, while Jovany Beltrán & Jessica Luna triumphed in the Half Oceanman distance.

Oceanman conquers America. Cozumel Island is written in the circuits history book in gold letters as the first venue in America to host the growing competition. The setting of the Caribbean Sea, the friendliness and hospitality of the Mexicans made the third event of the circuit an unforgettable day for participants and the organisation. So much so that Oceanman is already planning next year’s edition in which this Mexican venue will become the headquarters for expansion in Latin America.
More than 300 swimmers took to the waters with and overwhelming turn out of Mexican competitors, including famous and previous Olympic swimmers. Fernando Betanzos from Quintana Roo, won the full length 10 km Oceanman race with his time of 2:14:02, followed by José Luis Prado from Yucatán, and by César Corona from Queretaro. The prestigious Mexican Anahi Leon from Veracruz took the women’s title followed by Patricia Kohlman from Mexico DF and by Ruth Nivon from Quintana Roo.
In Half Oceanman the Men’s winner was Jovany Beltran from Yucatán with a time of 1:13:10. Three minutes later Rodrigo de los Cabos Mancebo from Hidalgo entered the finish line, and third place went to Darío Contreras also from Yucatán. In the women’s race Jessica Luna from Mexico City took the victory followed by Alejandra Patrón and then Adriana Patrón both from Yucatán.
In the Popular event, with a route of 1.5 km, young and veteran swimmers took to the water eager to share the Oceanman experience in Cozumel Islands privileged setting. At the end of the competition Fermin Egido, Competition Director, guaranteed that Oceanman will return to America next year saying that, “Cozumel is leader of a project to spread the Oceaman experience across more corners of the world”.
The first ten classified Men’s and Women’s categories in both Full and Half Oceanman, have qualified for the grand final which will take place on the 16th October in Benidorm, where the world titles for each category will be played for.
After Cozume the circuit returns to Spain to dive into Tabarca Island’s waters (11th September), another privileged setting and natural reserve on the Mediterranean.
